¡Bienvenidos al Programa de Español de Lake Forest Charter! While working on reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in Spanish class, Kindergarten through 8th grade students develop both their cognitive reasoning and cultural awareness. For elementary grades, the curriculum focuses on building a foundation in phoneme recognition, pronunciation, and vocabulary. In middle school, students continue to build on these competencies with the addition of more explicit instruction on grammatical conventions.
Foreign Language
The Kindergarten through 8th grade Information Technology Program is designed to build digital literacy progressively across grade levels, providing students with the necessary skills to succeed in a digital world. In Kindergarten and 1st grade, students learn basic computer operations, engage with educational games, create simple digital projects, and practice online safety. From 2nd to 4th grade, they strengthen their keyboarding skills, explore coding fundamentals through block-based programs, and begin to understand responsible internet use. By 5th to 8th grade, students develop advanced typing, coding, and web design skills, use collaborative tools, and focus on digital citizenship, including topics such as cyberbullying, online privacy, and ethical internet use.
Information Technology
In LFC's kindergarten through 8th grade General Music courses, students learn to understand various elements of music, such as melody, harmony, and rhythm. Students also familiarize themselves with different types of musical instruments from around the world and the process of creating and describing music. Finally, students journey through music history, where they explore, appreciate, and reflect on diverse cultural music traditions and genres.
Music
Kindergarten through 8th grade students improve fitness and motor skill development, reduce stress, build self-confidence while engaging in general physical activities and mindfulness classes. Health and nutrition education is also offered.
Physical Education
In LFC's Theater class, Kindergarten through 8th grade students explore the fundamentals of dramatic arts, including acting techniques, voice projection, and character development to enhance their performance skills. Students also gain valuable skills in teamwork, communication, and creativity, which are essential for both stage performance and personal growth.
Theater
LFC's Visual Arts program is designed for artists in grades Kindergarten through 8th. In Kindergarten, students are introduced to the basic building blocks—the Elements of Art. The Principles of Design are later presented in grades 3rd through 8th. Students then delve into art history and critiques before advancing to color theory, basic drawing techniques, painting, sculpture, and pottery.
