Why LFC?

Lake Forest Charter School is a student-centered, rigorous, accelerated, public, charter school serving over 600 Orleans Parish students from kindergarten through eighth grade. Since its inception in 2006, Lake Forest has maintained its A+ rating by the Louisiana Department of Education and has become the highest performing K-8 school in the State of Louisiana. Lake Forest Charter is also a 2021 & 2013 National Blue Ribbon School.

Understanding the application process

All New Orleans public schools participate in the NOLA-PS Common Application Process (NCAP). Lake Forest Charter School is an Orleans Parish public school with academic admissions requirements. As a school with academic admissions requirements, all applicants must complete both the NCAP application with Lake Forest Charter ranked as a choice, as well as, our LFC Supplemental Admissions Form (SAF) with supporting documentation attached.

Once eligibility is determined by LFC according to the applicant's combined Matrix scores, that information is sent to NOLA-PS where they then determine placement based on priorities. Eligibility status will be communicated directly to the applicant from LFC's Office of Admissions. However, actual school placement is determined and communicated directly to the applicant by NOLA-PS.

NOLA-PS Application (NCAP)

The initial application must be completed first with NOLA-PS.

LFC Supplemental Application (SAF)

After the NOLA-PS NCAP application is completed with Lake Forest Charter ranked as a choice, applicants will receive a link to the LFC Supplemental Admissions Form (SAF).

It is important to note, that applicants will not receive the SAF link to complete the form without fully completing the NOLA-PS NCAP application first. If the SAF is not received by Lake Forest Charter the applicant is not considered for admissions until the SAF is received. If you have completed the NCAP application and have not immediately received a link to the LFC SAF, please contact our Office of Admissions.

The SAF must include the upload of the following documents to be considered complete: We have created a checklist to help applicants that can be found here.

  • Student’s Birth Certificate

  • Copy of the FINAL report card of the prior school year for students applying for 3rd – 8th grade

  • Copy of 1st quarter report card of the current school year for students applying for 2nd – 8th grade

  • Spring 2021 standardized test scores for students applying for 5th – 8th grade

  • Portfolio for students applying to kindergarten and 1st Grade which includes:
