Lake Forest Charter School is a tuition free charter school that provides a nurturing environment through a rigorous, accelerated, academic program which incorporates visual, cultural and creative arts, and will ultimately enhance each student’s ability to become a global contributing citizen. LFC is a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School and a recipient of the National Title I Distinguished School Award for 2009 and 2015. In addition, LFC is the highest performing K – 8 school in New Orleans and the State of Louisiana.

How to Apply

Parents/Guardians must complete and submit students’ admission applications during the Application Period (October 8, 2018 – January 11, 2019) for the application to be considered timely. LFC Hosts Tours every Thursday during the Application Period. Tours begin at 9:00 a.m. We ask that you sign in at the front desk by 8:50 a.m. and prepare to be amazed. You must have government issued photo identification to receive a visitors pass and tour the school.

Is Lake Forest Charter a Public School?
Yes. Lake Forest Charter is a public, charter school that has admissions criteria. We are a type 3 charter school that is authorized by the Orleans Parish School Board. We serve students that reside in Orleans Parish. We admit qualified students regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, and disability.

What grades does LFC serve?
LFC serves students in Kindergarten – 8th Grade.

What are the school hours?
School hours are 8:00 A.M. – 3:30 P.M. We offer before care starting at 7:00 A.M. and after care until 6:00 P.M. for a cost.

What type of curriculum does LFC offer?
LFC offers a rigorous, accelerated, enriched academic program based on the Louisiana State Student Standards (LSSS).

What should I do if I need to reschedule my assessment?
We understand that things happen. If you need to reschedule your child’s admission assessment appointment, we ask that you email us at or call the front office at 504.826.7140. We will make every effort to accommodate the needs of you and your child.
