Student Information Records
Lake Forest Charter School (LFCS) ensures limited access to student education information by requiring that confidential access logs are attached to each
student’s educational record.
LFCS allows school officials (including staff members defined as a teacher, school principal, director,
clerical personnel) or consultants hired on behalf of the school, who have a legitimate educational interest, to view student education records. During the review
process, school officials or those hired by the school will not be allowed to remove records from the records room and will be required to sign and date the
confidential access log before reviewing student information.
Lake Forest Charter School recognizes and accepts that the parents of students, guardians of students, and students eighteen (18) years of age or older have
specific rights under Louisiana law and the FERPA Law as it relates to the privacy, examination, analysis, inspection, review and disclosure of personally
identifiable information (PII) contained in the student’s education records.
In accordance with federal law, parents, guardians or students eighteen (18) years of age or older have the right to inspect and review student education records
within forty-five (45) days of the day Lake Forest Charter School receives a request for access. For more information regarding the protection of student
information, please refer to Louisiana’s Data Governance and Student Privacy.
Parents or eligible students who wish to review their child’s education records must submit to the school principal [or appropriate school official] a written request
that identifies the records they wish to review. The principal or designated official responsible for handling such requests will make arrangements for access.
Parents, legal guardians or eligible students will be notified of the time and place where the records may be reviewed.
