Ochsner Super STEM Bowl: A Touchdown for Learning!

This school-wide event brought students together for a day packed with hands-on STEM activities inspired by the Louisiana State Standards. Our collaboration with Ochsner provided unique, real-world learning opportunities while building excitement for the upcoming Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans!

Thank you to our teachers, staff, and Ochsner partners for making the Super STEM Bowl an unforgettable experience. With engaging events like these, we are proud to nurture our students' enthusiasm for both learning and community!

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Dance and Music

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, our middle school girls took center stage to celebrate the vibrant cultures and contributions of Hispanic Americans. Under the guidance of Ms. Sunday, the students performed, captivating our school community during a special morning assembly.

This lively performance, set to classic Hispanic music, beautifully highlighted the rhythm, color, and spirit of Hispanic culture. Through their graceful movements and heartfelt dedication, our students shared a meaningful experience that brought awareness and appreciation to Hispanic heritage.

We extend our gratitude to Ms. Sunday and our talented students for bringing this inspiring event to life. It’s moments like these that enrich our school community and remind us of the diversity that strengthens us all.

PBIS Celebration: Recognizing Our “SOARing” Eagles!

This quarter, LFC celebrated our first Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) event, honoring students who have consistently demonstrated what it means to be a “SOARing” Eagle! Through PBIS, we create a positive school environment that encourages students to be Safe, Organized, Accountable, and Respectful each day.

Students who earned at least 90% positive points on ClassDojo, our tool for tracking behavior, were invited to enjoy the Quarter 1 PBIS Celebration and a special visit to the “Eagle Store,” where they redeemed their points for fun rewards. This celebration isn’t just a reward—it’s our way of acknowledging the efforts of students who contribute to a positive school culture through their actions and choices. For those still working toward these goals, PBIS offers support and guidance, seeing each behavior as a chance to learn and grow.

We encourage all families to stay connected through ClassDojo to monitor your child’s progress in real time. If you haven’t yet connected, please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher for assistance. Thank you for your support in helping our Eagles “SOAR” to success!

Celebrating the Reflex Math Summer Fluency Challenge and Summer Brain Power Success

This summer, our students rose to the challenge with LFC's Reflex Math Summer Fluency Challenge, building their math skills while competing for exciting prizes. The top performers of the 2024 challenge were awarded trophies and a Nintendo Switch game system, recognizing their dedication to math fluency and growth during the break. Congratulations to our winning Eagles—your hard work has truly paid off!

In addition to the Reflex Math Challenge, all students participated in our Summer Brain Power program, designed to keep skills sharp over the break. Each student completed reading assignments, a Choice Board activity, and six math assignments. These tasks were not only a great way to stay engaged in learning over the summer but also counted toward students’ first-quarter grades in ELA and math. As students returned this fall, they were assessed on the skills reinforced through these summer activities, setting a strong foundation for the new school year.

Thank you to our families for supporting our students in their summer learning, and congratulations to all who completed the Summer Brain Power program!

Cocktails and Blues Gala Raises Funds for New Outdoor Recreational Complex

On October 19, 2024, LFC hosted its annual Cocktails and Blues Gala—an unforgettable evening dedicated to raising funds for our school’s upcoming Outdoor Recreational Complex. This capital fundraiser was an incredible success, thanks to the lively support of our community, who joined us for an evening of entertainment, delicious food, and a silent auction.

The proceeds from this event will help turn our vision of a state-of-the-art outdoor complex into a reality, creating new opportunities for our students to explore sports like soccer, golf, lacrosse, tennis, swimming, track and field, and more. The addition of these facilities will be transformative, offering our Eagles a chance to develop skills in sports not widely available at school, all while promoting fitness, teamwork, and a love for outdoor activities.

A special thank you to our generous sponsors and everyone who joined us for this remarkable night. Together, we are building a brighter, healthier future for our students!

Celebrating Our “SOARing” Students of the Month!

Each month, LFC proudly recognizes one outstanding student from each homeroom who truly embodies what it means to be a “SOARing” Eagle. These students are selected for their commitment to being Safe, Organized, Accountable, and Respectful—values we hold high in our Eagle community.

The Student of the Month award celebrates those who demonstrate exceptional academic effort through perseverance and a love for learning. These students also stand out for their exemplary behavior, respect for school policies and staff, strong citizenship rooted in honesty and integrity, and a positive attitude that shines through their kindness and support for others.

Each honoree receives a special reward and is highlighted in our internal Eagle Newsletter. Congratulations to October's Students of the Month—you inspire us all to reach new heights!
