Kindergarten Sibling Rule
Qualified kindergarten applicants with siblings that are enrolled in Lake Forest Charter during the current school year will receive priority in placement.
Understanding the two-tiered selection process
First Tier – Qualified applicants are ranked by their total matrix score, and 75% of available openings at each grade level will be filled by students with the highest matrix score. If a lottery is required due to students having the same score, the parent/guardian will be notified.
Second Tier – The remaining 25% of the available openings at each grade level will be filled through a lottery drawing of all qualified applicants. Qualified students not accepted for admission at the time of the lottery will be placed on a waiting list.
Beginning with the admissions process for the 2022-2023 school year, all lottery, acceptance, and waiting list information will be communicated with families directly through the Enroll NOLA office.
Lottery, Placement Offers, and Waiting Lists
All information regarding lotteries, placement offers, and waiting lists will be communicated directly from the NOLAPS enrollment office.

Enrollment Polices
-
Lake Forest is an Orleans Parish public school. If an applicant is offered a placement for enrollment, they must be a legal resident of Orleans Parish to register at Lake Forest. Students must maintain and provide documented proof of residency throughout their tenure at LFC.
-
LFC must abide by Louisiana state law, as such all kindergarten applicants must turn 5 years old by September 30th of the upcoming school year to qualify for enrollment in any NOLA Public School.
-
Applicants enrolling in 5th through 8th grades must show proof that they have taken the State of Louisiana’s placement test (LEAP 2025) by June 12, 2022. Non-public students must take the exam in Spring or before the start of the school year.
Appeals
Lake Forest does not accept appeals for assessment results, admissions decisions, or deadlines. The results of the admissions process are final. If you feel that your child experienced an assessment irregularity, you may send in an appeal regarding the assessment irregularity only. The appeal must be submitted by email to admissions@lakeforestcharter.org within 24 hours after the assessment administration. Appeals received after this window will not be processed.
