Application Process

LFC holds a spring/summer application round to fill any  seat availability and to maintain our waiting list. To apply, complete the steps below. *If you applied in the main round and were not eligible, you must contact our office via email to reactive your S.A.F. 

  • Submit a Supplemental Application Form (S.A.F.) with supporting documents. Complete the orientation/survey. *If the required documents are not availble at the time of application they can be emailed to our admissions office.

  • Complete eligibility assessment. LFC will schedule your assessment within one business day of receiving your S.A.F.

  • Applicants receive the final decision. *Eligible applicants must submit a seat allocation form to Enrollment@LakeForestCharter.org to secure their placement.

LFC will hold four application rounds from October 2023 until July 2024. Our Main Round, held October 2nd 2023 through January 19th 2024, is your initial opportunity to secure a seat for the upcoming academic year. To start this journey, follow the steps outlined below.

    • Await notification of Phase I status.         

  • Phase II - Submit portfolio (K &1st grade), final 2022-2023 report card w/ attendance (2nd - 8th grade) and orientation/survey (K - 8th grade).

  • Our Team will confirm your assessment appointment via email at the address on file within two days of receiving your S.A.F. submission. See Admission Calendar for available dates.

Can I enroll if I live outside of Orleans Parish?

LFC is  an Orleans Parish public charter school. Orleans Parish residency is required at time of registration (August 2024) to enroll. 

Can I apply if I am currently out of state?

You may apply if you currently live out of the parish, state or country. However, you must be able to assess on-site. Contact us via email to inform us of your circumstances.

Can I apply if my birth date is after Sept 30, 2019 ?

La. State Law mandates that children entering Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year must be 5 yrs. old by September 30th 2024. 

Can I reschedule a missed assessment?

Every effort should be made to assess as scheduled. If it is not possible, contact us via mail to reschedule with the next group. The posted assessment dates  are our only availability. 

Can I take the assessment off-site or remotely?

It is LFC policy that all assessments are administered on-site to ensure that every measure is taken to guard the integrity of our process 

Can I reassess if I do not meet the threshold score?

If your assessment score does not meet the threshold, you may reapply in a future round by reactivating your S.A.F.  There is a mandatory 60-day waiting period between assessments.

Do I have a seat if eligible for enrollment?

Seat assignments are processed and communicated by NOLA.PS based on your OneApp school rankings. If there are more eligible applicants than available seats we use a tiered system to determine placement and waiting list. 

What is LFC's appeal policy?

Appeals are considered if you feel your child has experienced an assessment irregularity. Appeals  must be submitted via email within 24 hours of assessment   administration.
